Baraliyar residents throw water on elephants to drive them away

As the jackfruit season has started, wild elephants from the plains usually come to Baraliyar which is on the Mettupalayam Coonoor National Highway.
The wild elephants with their cubs camped near Baraliyar on the Mettupalayam Coonoor National Highway for the last one month. The forest department reviewed the activities under the leadership of Coonoor Forest Officer Rabindranath. While all the elephants had migrated from Baraliyar area to Kallar area, a video of Baraliyar residents chasing away elephants from residential areas by throwing water has gone viral on social media.
