2 TN Air Squadron NCC, under the leadership of Group Commander Colonel Shiva Rao, achieved a remarkable feat by creating a world record event on April 14. Conducted at KPR College of Engineering and Technology on Avinashi Road, the event witnessed the participation of 2100 cadets, both senior and junior, from the Kovai Group.
Led by Wing Commander Parkunan M, the NCC cadets rolled a staggering 11 lakh seed balls within a span of just two hours. This massive undertaking aimed to set a world record and contribute to environmental conservation efforts.
The event was graced by retired Air Force Officer Group Captain Senthil Kumar and Coimbatore Public School Correspondent Nirmala.
Their presence highlighted the significance of the initiative in the community.
The seed balls, meticulously collected during the event, will be dispersed over the Aanai Hills Tiger Reserve Forest area in the Western Ghats.
This ecological intervention aims to promote greenery and biodiversity in the region, promoting a sustainable environment.
Deputy Director General of NCC Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andaman Nicobar, Commodore Atul Kumar Rastogi, commended the NCC cadets, officers, and supportive staff for their dedication and participation in this commendable initiative.
The event's success was made possible through the meticulous arrangements by Air Force NCC Officer Wing Commander Parkunan and Warrant Officer Sathish, with supervision from NCC Flying Officers Rajesh, Suriya Uma Devi, Ravi, Jainulabdeen, Arun, and PI staff Sugumar, Vikas, and Ravi, among others.
This achievement not only set a world record but also exemplified the spirit of community service and environmental stewardship upheld by the NCC cadets and their leaders.
