Over 1500 doctors from 950 hospitals in Erode district went on strike today to protest the murder of a post-graduate trainee doctor in West Bengal due to sexual violence.
Indian Medical Association district president Saravanan and secretary Aravind said:
The murder has shocked everyone. So, this struggle is taking place on a nationwide scale.
Everywhere in the hospital, CCTV cameras should be installed.
Security personnel should be appointed in medical colleges. Compensation should be given to the affected family. They asked to provide protection to women doctors at their workplaces.
Earlier, doctors protested in front of the sangam building.
