Tribal community school student wins Rs 1 Lakh prize in Chief Minister's Cup, sets new state record

Saravanan, a student from the Kombuthukki Manfort Community Tribal School in Yercaud, made Salem district proud by winning the gold medal in the 3000m race at the 2024 Chief Minister's Cup athletics competition. In addition to the gold medal, Saravanan received Rs 1 lakh in prize money and certificates for his outstanding performance.
Saravanan also set a new state record by completing the 3000m race in 8:46:89 minutes. His achievement stands as a significant milestone for the student and his school.
In the district-level qualifying rounds for the Chief Minister's Cup, Saravanan secured first place in both the 3000m and 800m races. Other notable performances from the school included Paunika, who excelled in the 3000m race, and Rajeshwari, who finished strong in both the 400m and 800m races.
The school's principal Dr. George K. J, Brother Lawrence, Brother Anthony B., and teachers congratulated Saravanan and the other athletes for their remarkable achievements.
