M. Manickam, Chairman of Sakthi Group, said that machine cultivation is the best solution while sugarcane cultivation is facing various challenges such as increase in cost of planting, inter-ploughing, shortage of harvesters, increase in wages etc.
In this regard, CNH Sugarcane Harvester Manufacturing Company and Sakthi Foundation entered into an MoU. In this regard, Sugarcane Harvester Operator Training Center was inaugurated in the Sakthi sugar mill in Shakti Nagar, Appakudal, Erode District.
Inaugurating it, Mr Manikkam said through the MoU, 450 ryots will be given sugarcane harvestor machine operator training will be provided per year. 40 tons of sugarcane can be harvested in an hour by using the harvestor.
It will cost up to Rs.300 per ton. He said the use of machines are essential for profitable sugarcane cultivation.
CSR – CNH Program Head Kavita Sha said this training center has been started as the fourth training center in India after such centres in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
