During a special Human Rights Day camp held at Thandarampattu Taluk in Perundhurapattu Panchayat, Tiruvannamalai District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian received petitions from the public and distributed government welfare assistance.
The event was presided over by Chengam Assembly Member MP Giri.
Addressing the attendees, the District Collector emphasized that, following the directives of the Minister of Public Works, Highways, and Minor Ports, numerous welfare schemes are being implemented across Tiruvannamalai district.
The public grievance redressal camp was specifically organized in Perundurapattu village to directly address and resolve the grievances of the residents.
He highlighted that Tiruvannamalai district has received the highest number of petitions in Tamil Nadu through the Makkaludan Mudhalvar special program, with 81,000 petitions collected.
Additionally, over 60,000 petitions related to 44 services across 15 departments have been received, surpassing other
districts.
The camp also focused on issuing caste certificates, particularly for school students, and implementing various welfare schemes such as the Pudhumai Pen Project, Tamil Puthalavan Project, and Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam.
Welfare assistance worth ₹2.07 crore was distributed to 675 beneficiaries from various departments.
Specific assistance provided during the camp included: Land Patta change assistance for 67 beneficiaries, Free house plots worth ₹50,000 for one beneficiary, Natham Chitta copies for 104 beneficiaries, Dark Caste Certificates for 69 beneficiaries, First graduate certificates for two beneficiaries, Small Farmer Certificates and OC Certificates for 10 beneficiaries each, Succession certificates for six beneficiaries, Natural death allowance totaling ₹6 lakhs for 28 beneficiaries, Disability allowance totaling ₹8 lakhs for 46 beneficiaries, Old age allowance of ₹14,000 for one beneficiary, Marriage allowance of ₹50,000 for five beneficiaries, New e-family cards and educational assistance under the Pudhumai Pen scheme, with ₹2 lakhs for 21 beneficiaries, Educational assistance under the Tamil Puthalavan scheme, with ₹1 lakh for nine beneficiaries, Welfare assistance amounting to ₹68 lakhs for 56 beneficiaries on behalf of the cooperative sector, Loan assistance orders for three Women Self Help Groups.
The event saw the participation of Tiruvannamalai Revenue Divisional Officer Manthakini, Thandarampattu Union Committee President Parimala Kalaiyarasan, , local body representatives, and various government departmental officers.
