The on-going scourge of illicit liquor: Call for vigilance and accountability

It has been a year since 23 lives were lost to illicit liquor in the Marakkanam and Madurantakam regions, and now another tragic incident has occurred. The death of 39 people in Kallakurichi after consuming illicit liquor has caused shock and sorrow.
How did this happen? People are questioning whether the places where hundreds drink illicit liquor were unnoticed by the police, or if the authorities were covertly supporting them despite knowing.
In response to the news of the deaths, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin immediately expressed his sorrow and took swift action. 
Measures included the transfer of the District Collector and the suspension of the Superintendent of Police and other police officers.
Illicit liquor production and its deadly consequences have become an on-going issue, particularly in the regions of Villupuram, Kallakurichi, and surrounding areas. 
The government needs to take a firm stance against those who produce and sell illicit liquor. 
Only continuous monitoring by prohibition police can prevent such incidents in the future. District administration must also remain vigilant.
Strict action must be taken against all those involved, including illicit liquor traders and negligent police officers. 
The Kallakurichi illicit liquor deaths should serve as a lesson for government officials and the police.
