Erode District Collector Rajagopal Sunkara said that a target has been set to provide Rs. 70 crore worth of educational loans to 5,000 students. A training and counseling meeting for college managements regarding applying for educational loans was held at the collectorate on Friday. Collector Rajagopal Sunkara presided over the meeting.
He said that in the academic year 2024-25, the district has set a target of providing education loans worth Rs.70 crore to 5000 students. College management should act as a bridge between students, district administration and banks in providing this educational loan. He asked the managements to create necessary awareness about education loan process through the websites of Vidyalakshmi and Jansamath. 6 Nursing and Polytechnic Colleges, 16 Arts and Science Colleges, 14 Engineering Colleges and 5 Government Aided Arts and Science Colleges were in the district. Coordinators and students from a total of 41 government and private educational institutions participated. The meeting was attended by District Revenue Officer S. Shanthakumar, District Collector's PA General Mohammad Kuduratullah, District Lead Bank Manager Rajkumar and others attended.
