A seminar was organised by the Social Media Committee at Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore, in the college auditorium on August 3. The event was graced by the Secretary of Nirmala College for Women, Reverend Sister Dr. Kulandai Therese, and the Principal, Reverend Sister Dr. Mary Fabiola, who served as the advisory board heads.
The seminar commenced with a prayer at 9:30 AM and featured Reverend Sister Mary Chitra, the Librarian of St. Theresa’s Girls Higher Secondary School, Karur, as the special guest. The seminar, titled "Choose Different, Be Different," included a special address by Reverend Sister Mary Chitra. She emphasised the importance of standing out and being unique, inspiring students to build their self-confidence through a motivational speech.
During her address, Reverend Sister Mary Chitra highlighted the importance of being cautious while navigating social media, advising students to use the internet carefully. Additionally, breast cancer awareness was discussed, with a doctor from the medical field explaining the topic to the students via a video presentation.
All II-year undergraduate students participated enthusiastically and eagerly. The seminar served as a platform to provoke thought among students regarding social media and to raise awareness about the responsible use of mobile phones. Nirmala College for Women provided an excellent stage for this beneficial seminar, which was commendable.
