Salem Collector leads 'Kaloori Kanavu' program guiding students higher education

The Kaloori Kanavu (College Dream) program, aimed at guiding 12th pass students towards higher education, was conducted on May 8, 2024, at Padmavani College of Arts and Science for Women in Salem District's Omalur. Led by District Collector Dr. R Brindadevi, the event empowered students with information and resources to shape their future aspirations, the program delved into diverse facets of higher education.
The initiative provided crucial details on subject-wise degrees, diplomas, college selection criteria, available job opportunities post-graduation, competitive exams, career guidance, financial incentives, bank loans, and scholarships. Eminent experts and educators lent their expertise to guide students through these decisions.
Last year, the program had a notable impact, benefiting 22,805 students from Class 12 in government schools across Salem district. 
Additionally, it facilitated skill training for 82,837 students enrolled in engineering, diploma, arts, and science colleges under the district skill training office.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. R Brindadevi emphasized the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of setbacks. Drawing from personal experiences, she encouraged students to view failures as stepping stones to success.
The Collector urged students to capitalize on the invaluable guidance offered, emphasizing that higher education forms the cornerstone of their future endeavors.
The event also featured insights from industry experts on burgeoning fields and strategies to align skill development with evolving technology landscapes.
Notable attendees included Mettur Deputy Collector Mrs. Ponmani, District Revenue Officer Dr. P. Menaka, Salem City Police Deputy Commissioner Mr. Madhivanan, and other government officials from various departments.
