Rs. 7.82 crore welfare schemes to be distributed

In a consultative meeting on Thursday (Feb 16, 2024) chaired by Salem District Collector, Dr. R. Brindadevi provision of welfare assistance to beneficiaries under the "Makkaludan Mudhalvar" scheme was discussed.
The meeting aimed to streamline the process and ensure effective implementation of the initiative. During the gathering, the District Collector highlighted the success of the "Chief Minister with People" project camp, which ran from 18.12.2023 to 06.01.2024 across Salem district, receiving petitions from the public. These petitions, addressing various concerns and needs, will be addressed by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who will take department-wise actions on them. The initiation of welfare assistance to beneficiaries is scheduled for today (16.02.2024) during a function at Kalaivanar Arena, Chennai.
In a subsequent program, Mr. K.N. Nehru, the Minister of Municipal Administration will oversee the allocation of Rs. 7.82 crores towards various welfare schemes for 1,650 people in Salem District,during an afternoon event at the Hanging Park Multi-Purpose Hall, Salem Corporation. Additionally, the Corporation will lay the foundation stones for new projects and commence completed project works, signifying progress and development in the region.
The Mayor of the Corporation, Members of Parliament, Legislative Assembly, and representatives of local bodies are expected to attend.
