Police rescue youth after he jumps into the Bhavani river

Ajith Kumar, a 23-year-old construction worker from Mangalakarai Pudur near Karamadai in Coimbatore district, attempted to take his life by jumping into the Bhavani River yesterday. 
He was reportedly standing on the bridge near the Vana Badrakaliamman temple in Thekampatti while under the influence of alcohol.
Suddenly, he climbed the retaining wall of the bridge and jumped into the river. 
Fortunately, the Mettupalayam Police's Life Guards Division acted swiftly, jumping into the river and rescuing him. 
They brought him ashore using a coracle, administered first aid, and later handed him over to his relatives
