This year, Isha's Cauvery Calling movement will facilitate the planting of 300,000 saplings on agricultural lands in the Tiruppur district. Ahead of World Environment Day, the launch event took place on June 1, 2024. Participating in the event, Minister P. Saminathan recalled, "Former CM Karunanidhi's saying 'No gifts, plant saplings.'"
Isha's Cauvery Calling initiative aims to plant 12.1 million trees in Tamil Nadu during the fiscal year 2024-25. Marking World Environment Day, inaugural ceremonies are being held in every district of Tamil Nadu.
The launch event was held at Annamar Swamy temple premises in Kangeyam, Tiruppur district.
Speaking at the event, Cauvery Calling Coordinator Tamilmaran said, " The movement, initiated by Kalaignar with the planting of a sapling in 2006, has grown to worldwide recognition today. Four UN organizations have endorsed this movement.
Cauvery Calling personnel visit farmlands to provide advice on selecting tree species suitable for the soil, water management, weed management, and intercropping. For further information and sapling requirements, farmers can contact 80009 80009.
