Nilgiris Collector takes part in meeting discussing girls safety and protection

Nilgiris Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Thanneru participated in a consultation meeting on October 8, focused on the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child) scheme. The meeting, organised by the Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Department, was held at the Nilgiris Collector office.
During her speech, the Collector emphasised efforts to enhance the education and safety of girls in the district. 
She announced that officials had been instructed to arrange field trips for students from government and tribal schools to educational and important locations such as radio stations, Nanjanadu Horticulture Farm, dams, medical colleges, and the District Collector office. Additionally, science exhibitions will be held at the school level, with winners displaying their projects at the District Book Show.
Collector also revealed plans for providing skill development training to students from tribal areas, to empower them for future opportunities.
Key attendees at the meeting included Additional Superintendent of Police Soundararajan, District Chief Education Officer Nathakumar, District Social Welfare Officer Praveena Devi, District Lead Bank Manager Sadanand D Kalagi, and District Child Protection Officer Deepa.
