Minister of Public Works, Highways, and Minor Ports EV Velu inaugurated a departmental employment camp at the Arunai Engineering College campus in Tiruvannamalai. The event, organised by the District Administration, District Rural Employment and Vocational Guidance Center, and the Tamil Nadu State Rural/Urban Livelihood Movement/Women's Project, aimed to provide job opportunities to youth in collaboration with private companies. District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian, MP CN Annadurai, and several state and local officials were also present.
During the event, the Minister distributed job appointment orders and highlighted the state government’s efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister MK Stalin to create employment opportunities through numerous job fairs and initiatives. He noted that 138 large-scale and 1506 small-scale employment camps have been conducted across Tamil Nadu, resulting in 2 lakh youth and 32,361 differently-abled persons receiving job offers from private companies. In Tiruvannamalai district, 21647 people participated in a previous job fair on December 11, 2022, and 2640 of them were provided jobs.
At the latest event held at Arunai Engineering College, 103 private companies participated, and 1267 job seekers attended, with 362 youth receiving job offers. The Minister stressed the government's commitment to achieving its 1 trillion-dollar economic goal and making Tamil Nadu a leader in youth employment by 2030. He also mentioned MoUs signed with major companies during the Chief Minister’s 14-day official visit to America, which are expected to generate investments worth Rs. 17,616 crores and create jobs for 11,516 people.
Officials, including Project Director Saranya Devi and District Employment Officer Yogalakshmi, along with representatives from local bodies, attended the event.
