Coimbatore Avinashilingam Institution celebrated Kalaivizha in grand style

Coimbatore’s Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women celebrated its annual cultural festival, Kalaivizha 2024, on October 3rd, with the theme “Folklore and Mythology of India.” The event showcased a vibrant array of exhibitions and activities, celebrating the creativity and talents of students.
The day began at 8:00 AM with exhibitions featuring a Food Fest, Flower Arrangements, a Textile Exhibition, and a grand Navarathri Kolu display. A formal inauguration followed at 9:00 AM at Thiruchitrambalam Auditorium, attended by outgoing undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Dr. S Amsamani, Dean of the School of Home Science, welcomed the attendees, emphasising the importance of preserving traditional culture through such events. Chancellor Dr. TSK Meenakshisundaram delivered the presidential address, highlighting the institution's continued adherence to its founders' teachings.
The chief guests, Karappan, Master Weaver and Founder of Karappan Silks, and Ankitha Dinesh of RAENCO Mills Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore, gave inspiring speeches. Karappan spoke about the economic significance of handlooms and the role of education, while Ankitha praised the institution for promoting cultural and entrepreneurial skills through its exhibitions.
The event also included a prize distribution ceremony and concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Sumathi S, followed by the National Anthem. Kalaivizha 2024 was a celebration of tradition, creativity, and the rich heritage of India.
