A task force to monitor ban on single-use plastics in Tiruvannamalai

A district-level task force meeting was held at the District Collector's office in Tiruvannamalai to oversee the enforcement of the ban on single-use plastics. The meeting was chaired by District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian.
The Collector directed local bodies to conduct inspections and confiscate banned plastic products, including single-use plastic carry bags used by business establishments and street vendors. He also stressed the importance of raising awareness among the public and students about the harmful effects of plastic products, bottles, and paper cups on humans, animals, and the environment. To encourage the use of alternatives, he proposed distributing cloth bags.
As part of this initiative, the District Collector distributed cloth bags to government officials to promote their use. The meeting was attended by key officials, including District Revenue Officer R Rampradeepan, Cheyyar Sub-Collector Pallavi Varma, Tiruvannamalai Revenue Divisional Officer M Mandakini, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board District Environmental Engineer Kalaiselvi, Tahsildars, and School Education department representatives.
